In Southeast Missouri, one in six people live in a home where there isn’t enough food. One in five children don’t have enough food to eat. That’s why Southeast Missouri Food Bank distributes more than 12 million pounds of food each year. Through a network of 140 food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters, we reach 60,000 individuals in 16 counties each month with food assistance. We also provide food for truck-to-table mobile food pantries in high-need areas. Our Backpacks for Friday program provides backpacks of weekend food to nearly 600 students in 25 schools. We also provide boxes of healthy, nutritious food to 4,800 senior citizens each month. To do this, we rely heavily on retailers who donate excess food, volunteers who pack boxes and deliver services and generous donors like you who contribute food and dollars. 96 percent of all donations received go directly into programs. Each dollar donated can provide four meals to hungry families. So we can HELP MORE, REACH MORE, FEED MORE.
